Essay: "Too Close for Comfort"

by Jeffrey Palmer
On August 19th, 2006, I read in the Prisoner Express Newsletter the theme topic "Too Close for Comfort," immediately I thought of Hurricane Katrina and signs of the time. My oldest sister's life was turned upside down when Katrina hit ground destroying everything in its path, right along with it my sister's life. She lost everything except for her and her three son's lives. But she hasn't gotten any relief help worth given. Because she lost her home with everything in it, the only reason they didn't lose their lives and the clothes they had on their backs was because they fled to South Carolina to stay with our mother until the flood's water had receded, leaving nothing for them to go home to, and thank God she left when they did or they would have been lost.

She and the three children are now living next to our mother in South Carolina, still struggling financially and barely enough food.

It's a shame! A crying shame to know we have sorry people in this world who care for no one but themselves when push comes to shove. Mainly these government people who claim to help with relief funds for victims such as my sister was. But yet they can't help restore the loss of everything someone has ever owned. But the sad part is they can't provide enough to get one started towards restoring their lives.

Katrina his in August 2005, and it's now 2006 and my sister is barely making it from day to day. I know a lot of people had lost their lives or loved ones to Katrina in 2005. However, a lot of people are still alive and struggling to put their lives back in order, and that's what Hurricane Relief Help is supposed to do. But it has failed for my sister and her three sons and I'm sure there are a lot of others it has failed. But the question is why they have failed so very many people who really need the help that they are supposed to give. Which brings us back to the subject of "Signs of the Time." Folks, our time is drawing nearer by the second.

Therefore, we must get it together with God and his son Jesus Christ before the appointed time arrives. You, I must turn from our evil ways and pick up our crosses to follow Jesus. Why? Because this statement Josef Stalin said, "One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic." It's so very true. For we are fully warned in the Holy Bible, "The Book of Life," of these very things, or signs to watch for and know He is coming for the saved real soon, we must be ready for His coming at all times.

God and His son, Jesus Christ, have given us each a free will of choice to choose life or death. Folks, I'm choosing life so why don't you? Before it's too late.

Because sometimes we speak of any catastrophic events as "Pure Natural Disasters." But that term is misleading because they don't harm nature, but, rather, they are themselves natural events.

August 30th, 2005 changed a lot of lives, or even taken a lot of lives from this earth as well call it. But the truth is even Jesus Christ, The Very Son of God, wept, "Grieved." And we know this because it's in our Bible. (John 11:35)

Read the following scriptures in your own Bible's, because it proves God and His son, Jesus, care for each and every one of us. However, the key is to turn from evil to follow His son in order to have life beyond measure of what you could dream of having..."Jonah 4:11, Luke 9:54. 9:5, John 11:35, Hebrews 4:15, Luke 12:6-7. Jeremiah 9:1, Samuel 18:33, Isaiah 65:24, and Revelation 13:8, 21:4, 21:1."

But our problem is who we choose to follow and live our lives to live up to who we have chosen to follow, either Jesus or Satan.

I choose Jesus and so should you.
